Quarantine Fits

Quarantine. Nowhere to go, but so many outfits to wear. Since I’ve decided quarantine won’t keep me from dressing up, I’ve devised a few tips and tricks to dress up your current quarantine fits and make life feel familiar, even if it means you’re only moving from your bedroom to your couch to your kitchen and back again.

  1. Jeans

Now, I know you are thinking—“Is she out of her mind? She thinks I would swap the comfort of my sweatpants for the confinement of jeans?” I get it—it sounds ridiculous, but if you have a comfortable pair of jeans, put them on. And you can still keep the sweatshirt or graphic t-shirt on! I know that, for me, coming out of my sweatpants into something that doesn’t have elastic or drawstrings makes me feel so much more put together—and I don’t even have to sacrifice any comfort.

2. “The Top Half”

Like me, I know most teenagers are constantly using social media. Fortunately for us, in most of the apps we use the most—like Snapchat and TikTok—our lower halves are rarely seen. With this in mind, instead of putting an entire outfit on, you can just style the top half! And if you want to make it look like you put a little extra effort in, add a scarf or hat to give that underwhelming outfit a little spice!

3. Accessories

This goes hand in hand with the “top half” method, as I’m calling it (remind me to get that trademarked.) If you’re still completely resistant to taking off your sweatpants and the t-shirt you that haven’t taken off in two days, throw on a pair of earrings, a necklace, and anything that can go on your head (not literally, but you get the vibe.) Accessorizing really finishes off the “top half” method—and people don’t even have to know that you probably haven’t taken off your middle school field day t-shirt in days.

4. Sweatshirt for Sweater

We all feel comfortable in our oversized sweatshirts, but don’t forget they need a break, too! The good news is that all you need to do is swap her out with her style cousin—the sweater. Many of our sweaters that we haven’t put away yet are right in our closets, ready to be worn, and you can get that same comfort and warmth that you get from a sweatshirt, but in style!

Well, that’s all from me for now, but I hope you find some of these helpful and hope this brings a little bit more joy to your day during these trying times. For me, planning outfits—even if I’m only wearing them while I walk to the living room—has become the highlight of my day (which is something I never thought I would say), and I hope it can do the same for you. See you next edition!
