Is the Gryphon Sorry? (poem)

They say, “welcome back!”
“We missed you!”
“We’re so glad you’re here!”
They don’t seem to realize
that we are not welcome,
we were not missed.
They reject the idea that
anyone could hate us
for being nothing more than
who we were made to be.
We tell them our frustrations,
why we don’t feel safe.
But they are blinded by money,
we have no power.
We suffer in silence, 
welcome back to high school.
